From 15 April to 31 July 2024 the Survey of Economic Activities for the Implementation of the New ATECO 2025 Classificationwhich will come into force from 1 January 2025 and to be adopted by all companies and professionals for administrative and fiscal purposes.
The almost completed classification revision is the result of a process started in 2020, in which Confindustria actively participated as a member of the ATECO Committee. The ATECO Committee was set up as a discussion table between ISTAT (responsible for maintaining the classification of production activities), the bodies involved in the process of assigning ATECO codes to users (for tax and administrative purposes) and the main trade associations that are the main stakeholders in the Italian economic-productive reality.
The Survey is aimed at a sample of approximately 150,000 companies and professionals. Although the entire population of enterprises is affected by the recoding process, those enterprises whose economic activities are most affected by the changes introduced by the revision process have been sampled. The survey, deliberately designed to be concise in order to facilitate the task of the enterprises, will enable Istat to determine in a more punctual and precise manner the economic activities carried out in Italy. It will thus make it possible to reclassify the units in the statistical register to produce increasingly accurate and relevant official statistics on the structure and evolution of the Italian production system.
For this reason, it is important that all companies and professionals who have received a letter of invitation from Istat to the Survey actively participate, because by completing the questionnaire they will contribute to the successful implementation of the new classification.
