ORSINI: “GOOD FIRST OF MAY DL, IT IS A CURB AGAINST CONTRACTUAL DUMPING”

Rome, 29 April 2026 - “The May Day Decree Law approved yesterday reaffirms the central role of collective bargaining, identifying the contracts signed by the most representative associations as the legal reference for defining the ‘fair wage’ envisaged by Article 36 of the Constitution,’ said Confindustria President Emanuele Orsini.

“We agree with the rule on contract renewals, which ensures their timeliness while recognising the value of collective bargaining autonomy. The strengthening of incentives for hiring those furthest from the labour market, for combating irregular work through digital platforms, and for work-life balance is also positive and acceptable. Granting public incentives only to those who guarantee the ‘fair wage’ counteracts contractual dumping. I do not find it fair to grant benefits from general taxation to those who do not guarantee the economic and normative treatment due to their employees. In this way, the government rewards fair companies, supports quality work and strengthens a competitive system based on legality, social responsibility and fair competition”.
