UniBGirls & STEM is a hackathon promoted by the’University of Bergamo in collaboration with Confindustria Bergamo which enhances students' ideas and projects on STEM applied to real-life challenges. The initiative brings teams together to work on current, high-impact projects and topics: energy and the circular future, inclusion and well-being at school, cultural attractiveness of the territory to generate development and value.

The event reached the IV edition and concludes the’11 February, in conjunction with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, with a final day where the groups present their solutions in front of a jury and the public.

The format brings different worlds into dialogue: alongside the team projects, there are testimonials from local companies e university researchers, offering concrete examples of study and work paths and showing how STEM skills can translate into professional opportunities and innovation for the region.

In this same sphere, Confindustria Bergamo, carries out projects of Training School Work carried out with high schools and technical institutes in cooperation with member companies. The challenge-based model aims to stimulate boys and girls to explore current topics related to local companies, foster STEM orientation and develop transversal skills. In particular, for several years now, there have been active collaborations between a number of companies in several sectors and the main high schools and technical institutes in the area (3rd-4th-5th grades) in which the following are addressed robotics themes teaching students how to programme, about sustainability in the various ESG areas, mechatronics and Industry 5.0, and green building. Around 500 students are involved each year and some are awarded prizes in the “Alternation Stories".
