Rome, 21 May 2026 – The private meeting of Confindustria delegates, held today in the Auditorium della Tecnica on Viale dell’Astronomia, unanimously approved the reform of the Articles of Association, introducing significant changes regarding governance, the composition of the Executive Committee and the procedure for re-electing the President.
The review stems from a need that emerged during the consultations for the 2024 confederal presidency election, which President Orsini and his team addressed by setting up the Reform Commission.
Among the main measures are the expansion of the team of Vice-Presidents, which range from the current ten up to a maximum of sixteen, with the aim of strengthening representational capacity, accountability for thematic areas of responsibility and participation within the confederation’s governance structure.
Â
The following individuals have therefore been appointed as Vice-Presidents: Leopoldo Destro for Transport, Logistics and the Tourism Industry; Riccardo Di Stefano for Education and Open Innovation; Giorgio Marsiaj for Aerospace; Aurelio Regina for Energy; Antonio Gozzi on European Strategic Autonomy, the Mattei Plan and competitiveness policies in relations with the European institutions; Francesco Somma for Corporate Culture and Legal Certainty.
Â
Of particular significance, too, are the changes to the procedure for renewing the Presidency, which has been overhauled to ensure greater efficiency, transparency and clarity at every stage of the process:Â An eight-week period is introduced for the conduct of the electoral process, during which it will be possible to present the policy guidelines to the governing bodies of the member associations and carry out external communication initiatives.
Â
Next up is the The General Council has been partially reorganised and expanded: All chairpersons of the regional Confindustria branches, of the local associations operating at regional level, and of the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano are entitled to participate with voting rights.
With a view to preserving the existing, well-established balance, an additional seat is allocated to the largest regional Confindustria organisations, and the maximum number of representatives elected by the System’s full members is increased from 100 to 120.
Â
The following measures round off the package: the strengthening Confindustria’s vision and mission, the streamlining of the rules governing eligibility for national office, the strengthening of protection for the Confindustria trademark, and the consolidation of the principle of exclusive jurisdiction of the confederal supervisory bodies over disputes within the System.
