Genoa and Liguria Capital of the Sea Economy 2026

The first day of the event will be held on 16 April 2026 at 4 p.m. at Palazzo Doria Tursi in Genoa “Genoa and Liguria Capital of the Sea Economy 2026 – The blue engine of economic and employment growth”, promoted by Confindustria together with the Ligurian Confindustria system and dedicated to the role of the blue economy as an engine of economic and employment growth.

The meeting represents a moment of debate on the strategic role of the sea economy for the development of the Ligurian territory and the country, with a focus on growth prospects, employment and synergies between companies, institutions and the port system.

Opening is a presentation entitled “Genoa and Liguria Capital of the Sea Economy 2026 - an integrated territorial model”.”, entrusted to Mario Zanetti, Confindustria Delegate for the Economy of the Sea, and to Silvia Salis, Mayor of Genoa.

This will be followed by discussions involving representatives of the Ligurian Confindustria system and local institutions, with the aim of enhancing the specific features of the territories and strengthening a shared vision of blue economy development.

The discussion will be attended by the Presidents of the territorial associations of Confindustria, the Mayors of the main Ligurian cities and representatives of the port system, in an articulated dialogue on the topics of economic development and territorial policies.

The conclusions will be entrusted to the President of the Liguria Region, Marco Bucci, and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi, This confirms the centrality of the maritime economy in national and local growth strategies.
