Confindustria spoke at a hearing before the Senate Committee on the Environment and Industry as part of the examination of the draft enabling bill on nuclear energy, reiterating that a return to nuclear energy represents a strategic choice to strengthen energy security, support the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector and underpin the country’s decarbonisation process. The Association gave a positive assessment of the bill’s framework, calling for its swift approval and emphasising the role that sustainable nuclear power can play, in conjunction with renewable sources, in ensuring a more stable, secure and competitive energy mix.

Confindustria also emphasised the importance of the implementing decrees promoting the national and European industrial supply chain, through measures to support businesses, research, technology transfer and skills development. Particular attention was also drawn to the definition of the regulatory framework, the bankability of investments and the implementation of the measures provided for in the draft bill to support the development of sustainable nuclear energy in Italy.
