Confindustria gave evidence at a hearing before the Chamber of Deputies’ Ninth Committee on Transport, Post and Telecommunications as part of the examination of the draft bill on the reform of the national port system. The Association expressed a favourable view of the bill’s overall framework, emphasising the need to update the regulatory framework in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the port system, accelerate investment and support the development of production chains.

During the hearing, Confindustria highlighted a number of elements considered essential to the reform’s effectiveness: clear governance, the preservation of the role of the Port System Authorities, the financial sustainability of the system, the involvement of businesses and local communities, and certainty regarding the regulatory framework. These objectives, together with the simplification of procedures and the continuity of investment, can help to strengthen the competitiveness of Italy’s port sector.
