Confindustria's Position Paper on the Digital Omnibus identifies the Italian industry's main priorities for digital regulatory simplification, with reference to artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data protection and the Data Act. While positively assessing the approach of the European package, oriented towards harmonisation and reduction of burdens, the document highlights the need for targeted interventions to strengthen legal certainty, proportionality of requirements, and consistency with the objectives of competitiveness and innovation. Among the proposals: clearer and more enforceable rules for AI, greater coordination in cyber incident reporting, substantial simplifications of the GDPR, and a more calibrated approach to data sharing, especially in business-to-business relations, to protect security, investments, and industrial property.
