European Affairs

It represents the Delegation of Confindustria at the European Union, which has been present in Brussels since 1958.

This department provides direct assistance to the associations and businesses that are part of the Confindustria System with reference to European matters. It engages in lobbying activities and pursues the interests of the Italian industrial system within the Union's institutions and within BusinessEurope, the federation of European employer associations.

Furthermore, this department provides support to the System's Associations in accessing direct EU funding, organizes in-depth seminars on community issues, and facilitates visits to Brussels for local and sectoral associations of the Confindustria System.

Matteo Carlo Borsani

After studying Political Science in Pavia and obtaining a Master's degree in European Policies in Strasbourg, Matteo Carlo Borsani moved to Brussels, where he joined the Confindustria Delegation to the European Union (EU) in 2004. In the following years, he was responsible for relations with the European Parliament and policies related to the internal market, with a particular focus on the free movement of goods and services, intellectual property, public procurement, and standardization. Additionally, he organized seminars on European affairs and coordinated visits of the Confindustria System to Brussels. In 2018, he took on the role of Head of the Delegation to the EU. He is a member of the European Economic and Social Committee and a contract professor at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan.
He has been at the helm of the European Affairs Area since 2019.
