Mario Zanetti was born in Cogoleto (Genoa) in 1971.

He graduated in Maritime and Transport Economics from the University of Genoa and completed his education by participating in general management programmes at INSEAD Business School.

He has been CEO of Costa Crociere since April 2023, where he started working in 1999, joining the Revenue Management Department. He holds several key positions in the company, demonstrating entrepreneurial and leadership skills.

In 2017, he became General Manager of Costa Asia, with a focus on China, Taiwan and Japan, where he redesigned the organisation and significantly improved local business and financial performance, thereby strengthening Carnival Corporation's leadership in the region.

Between 2020 and 2023, he holds the roles of Chief Commercial Officer and General Manager.

In his current role as CEO of Costa Cruises, he oversees Costa's fleet of ships operating in Europe, South America and Asia, as well as all sales offices worldwide.

Since 1 January 2024 he has been President of Confitarma, the Italian Shipowners' Confederation, for the four-year period 2024-2028, while since May 2024 he has been the President's Delegate of Confindustria for the Economy of the Sea, again for the four-year period 2024-2028.
