Confindustria Centro Studi
The Centro Studi Confindustria (CSC) was founded with Confindustria to foster dialogue between industrialists and workers. In the 1920s it launched the first sectoral economic analyses, while since 1944 the Studies Office has been producing research on economics, finance and labour.
Institutionalised in 1970 thanks to Angelo Costa, the CSC became a centre of excellence under Guido Carli (1976-1980), specialising in macroeconomic analysis and forecasting. Confindustria developed an advanced econometric model in those years, collaborating with international institutions.
Today, the CSC continues to support Confindustria with strategic analyses and, in 2016, was recognised as an economic research body by Eurostat, the first case in Europe for a business organisation.
Study Centre
The Centro Studi Confindustria is divided into four main areas of analysis.
The economy and forecasts monitor the performance of the Italian economy through indicators on GDP, industry, employment and public finance, providing periodic updates and future scenarios.
The analysis of geo-economic scenarios examines the global context, assessing the impact of international agreements, economic institutions and infrastructure on Italian companies.
The study of industrial trends analyses the transformation of production sectors and territories, providing useful data for defining industrial policy strategies.
Finally, the evaluation of economic policies measures the effectiveness of public interventions through ex-ante and ex-post analyses, providing concrete bases for strategic decisions and for improving the country's growth and welfare.
