Launched by Confindustria in 2019, the "Capital of Enterprise Culture was created to enhance the link between business and culture as a strategic factor in the development of territories. The project is based on the idea that urban growth increasingly depends on the encounter between the production system, the creative-cultural ecosystem and local communities.

A central role for associations, companies and territories

Protagonists of the initiative are the System Associationscompanies and territories, called upon to recount and valorise the contribution of business not only from an economic point of view, but also from a social and identity perspective.
Associations are required to submit a application file - also in aggregate with other territorial or trade associations - containing an annual programme of initiatives and events.

The Rules and Aims of the Project

The Rules of Participation, recently updated also thanks to the contribution of the Associations that have held the title since 2019, defines the approach of the candidatures and programmes. The initiatives must highlight manufacturing excellence and its relationship with the territory, placing this experience in a national dimension to contribute to the dissemination of business culture and public debate on issues of manufacturing culture.

Within this framework, 'Capital' aims to:

  • highlight the identity of the territories, their manufacturing vocation and the link with the social and cultural context;
  • strengthen awareness of the social, identity and economic role of entrepreneurial culture;
  • enhance the Confindustria System's commitment to spreading business culture and creating value for communities;
  • develop a clear narrative of the dynamism of urban contexts that invest in the combination of business and culture;
  • promote public-private partnerships.

The title has so far covered the cities of: Genoa (2019), Alba (2020-2021), Padua-Venice-Treviso-Rovigo (2022), Pavia (2023), Turin (2024), Naples (2025).
