“Sustainability - Use your head!” is the project of Confindustria Toscana Nord, realised with the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa, which brings sustainability into the classroom in a concrete and topical way. Aimed at the 3rd and 4th classes of the high schools of Lucca, Pistoia and Prato, it accompanies students to discover how the environmental impact of a product is really measured, thanks to the LCA - Life Cycle Assessment - methodology, a scientific tool also used by companies to design in a more responsible way.

The course consists of two parts: a seminar module led by young researchers, designed to be rigorous but accessible, and a workshop module leading to a creative challenge. The classes work on a product, analyse its criticalities and possible improvements according to LCA principles, and produce a paper that is also entered in a competition.

The project enhances transversal skills (analysis, teamwork, communication) and can be part of the PCTOs. The finale is a public and motivating moment: the award ceremony takes place as part of the Pianeta Terra Festival, giving visibility to the students' ideas and making sustainability something practical, measurable and close to everyday life.
