The ’Machine Tool Olympiad“ is a team competition promoted by Confindustria Vicenza (Mechanics, Metallurgy and Electronics Section) in collaboration with the Education Commission and UCIMU. A concrete initiative that brings school and enterprise closer together and allows students to put their technical and programming skills to the test in a real context.

The competition is aimed at the fourth and fifth year classes of technical and professional institutes and the third year classes of CFPs in the province of Vicenza, in the mechanical pathways (mechanics, mechatronics, machine tool operator and similar). Participants work in teams of 2 to 4 people, guided by teachers, facing a theoretical test with multiple-choice questions and a practical challenge: the execution of the production cycle of a mechanical component.

The event takes place in March at an associated mechanical engineering company, turning the competition into a high-impact training experience. Cash prizes are up for grabs for the best finishers (€600 for first place and €400 for second, for five-year and three-year courses) and gadgets for all participants.
