Anghileri: “Simplification, investment and competitiveness: young entrepreneurs” priorities for the European agenda"

Brussels, 18 November 2025  – Today, at the European Parliament, the Chair of Confindustria Young Entrepreneurs, Maria Anghileri, met with the Vice-President of the European Parliament, Antonella Sberna, who spoke at the meeting of the Central Council of Young Entrepreneurs, held exceptionally in Brussels.

In thanking Sberna for his constant dialogue with the productive world and for promoting the interests of businesses and young people in Europe, Anghileri stressed that “for our generation, Europe is a common home, but in order to remain competitive, it needs to achieve shared goals with a clearer vision: the world is moving fast and we cannot afford to fall behind. The figures for our competitors speak for themselves: per capita GDP in the United States is $80,000, compared to $40,000 in Europe. This is not because they work harder than us, but because they produce more for every hour worked, thanks to investment in technology, infrastructure and human capital”.

La President He highlighted a number of critical factors – productivity, energy costs, technological delays – and the risk that “excessive regulation could stifle innovation: energy costs much less in the United States, which makes its supply chains more competitive. In Europe, on the other hand, the cost of energy has become a factor of inequality. If energy costs more, everything costs more, and this discourages new businesses.”.

Among the priorities indicated by the Young Entrepreneurs To Vice President Sberna:

  • regulatory simplification;
  • competitive energy prices;
  • technological and digital sovereignty, with investments in AI, semiconductors and cybersecurity;
  • Union of Capital Markets and Financial Services for Growth;
  • strengthening the industrial base and common defence.

Anghileri also reiterated his support for the 28th Regime, “a single, optional European instrument to make it easier to grow and do business”.

“Europe can do it,” concluded Anghileri, "if it puts competitiveness at the heart of its decisions. Young entrepreneurs are ready to do their part.".
