CONSIP S.P.A. AND CONFINDUSTRIA TOGETHER FOR A MORE EFFECTIVE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE NEEDS OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATIONS AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF ENTERPRISES

Today the signing of the cooperation protocol in the presence of the CEO of Consip S.p.A., Marco Mizzau, and the Director General of Confindustria, Raffaele Langella

Rome, 19 December 2023 - Consip S.p.A. and Confindustria signed a cooperation protocol with the aim of increasing and making more effective interaction between the needs of public administrations and the needs of businesses.

Our economic system is called upon to support the country in the great transformations taking place: from climate change to population ageing, from major technological and digital innovations to the reorganisation of global value chains. The Protocol signed by Consip S.p.A. and Confindustria intends to give a propulsive boost to the management of these challenges: the national public procurement system may, in fact, represent an important instrument of industrial policy and economic growth for the country and act as lever of upgrading public demand and private supply.

Among the objectives of the agreement - signed today in Rome between Consip S.p.A.in the person of Managing Director Marco Mizzau, and Confindustriarepresented by General Manager Raffaele Langella - there are:

-        the strengthening public procurement as an 'accelerator' for innovation in the public-private system; greater involvement of businesses in public demand; a deeper understanding of the new Public Contracts Code, also in view of the digitisation of procurement;
-        the joint analysis of data and trends on supply and demand trends, to know the needs of administrations; to encourage the reconstruction of supply chains, the possibility for companies to offer technologically more advanced products or alternatives to current requirements, also with a view to re-qualifying expenditure;
- the activation of dissemination and promotion initiatives in the territoryinvolving companies and associations belonging to Confindustria.

A communion of intent between two realities that, each in its own role, are central to the Country System. On the one hand, Consip S.p.A. which - as a national central purchasing body - manages around EUR 25 billion annually, equivalent to over 1.3% of Italy's GDP, with more than 500,000 contracts concluded between 140,000 companies and 13,500 administrations. On the other hand, Confindustria, the main association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy, to which more than 150,000 small, medium and large companies belong voluntarily, with a total of more than 5.3 million employees and a contribution to the country's GDP of 34%.
