Rome, 23 October 2025 - Today, at the Confindustriathe Vice President for Credit, Finance and Taxation Angelo Camilli met with the European Commissioner for Financial Services and the Savings and Investment Union Maria Luís Albuquerque.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to discuss the financial priorities of theEuropean Union and the need to build a more efficient and integrated capital market by facilitating business access to it.
Camilli, in thanking the Commissioner for her efforts in creating a Savings and Investments Union and for its attention to the demands of the industrial system, emphasised that 'financial rules, particularly those aimed at the banking system, have direct effects on the competitiveness of industrial enterprises'. Hence Confindustria's commitment to closely monitor European dossiers on financial matters, also in coordination with BusinessEurope and with the industrial associations of the main European countries.
The association's priorities discussed during the meeting include: fostering the development of a European capital market and business access to it; strengthening the role of institutional investors, particularly pension funds, as long-term investors; promoting the mobilisation of private savings and improving banking regulation in a more balanced and proportionate way; and ensuring simplified rules on sustainable finance that are truly capable of facilitating business transition.
Camilli reiterated Confindustria's support for 'an ambitious Savings and Investment Unioncapable of channelling European savings towards innovation, growth and the green and digital transition'.
'Constant dialogue between companies and European institutions,' Camilli concluded, 'is essential to build a financial framework that supports the competitiveness and growth of productive Europe. The issues addressed today are central for all European industry and will also be debated during the trilateral summit with the French and German Confederations of Industry, MEDEF and BDIwhich we will host in Rome on 5 and 6 November'.
