'The agreement to renew the metalworkers' contract is good news'. This is affirmed by Maurizio Marchesini, Confindustria Vice President for Labour and Industrial Relations. 'It was a long and complex discussion but, in the end, the common will to find a balance prevailed. I want to express my satisfaction and appreciation for the commitment with which FedermeccanicaThroughout these long months of confrontation, it has been able to defend the principles underlying good labour relations, confirming the importance and usefulness of an instrument such as the collective agreement'.
'This is a very significant signal,' added Marchesini, 'at a crucial time for industrial relations. The transitions we are facing can greatly benefit from a good collective agreement. If this instrument is to perform its function in the best possible way, we must also continue to combat contractual dumping by recognising the value of collective agreements concluded by the most representative organisations, the so-called, 'reference collective agreement'. To achieve this, we need a strategy shared by the actors of labour relations, but also by the government and parliament, and on which, as always, we are ready to make our contribution'.
