After graduating in Political Science from the University of Bologna, he graduated from the Scuola di Specializzazione in Discipline Bancarie (School of Specialisation in Banking) at the University of Siena, during which time he was a visiting student at the MA in Banking & Finance at the University of North Wales, and obtained diplomas for European and international careers from ISTUD and SIOI in Rome. Between 1992 and 2002 in Brussels, he was a consultant to the Associazione Industriali di Rovigo, an official of the Confindustria Delegation to the European Union, and a Federveneto Seconded National Expert (END) to the EU Commission, where he managed an economic and industrial cooperation programme with Asia and the South East. Since 2002, he has been first Head of Core and then Deputy Head of the European Affairs and International Affairs Directorates of Confindustria.
