'Giorgetti's clarification is good, but on the manoeuvre we will be careful'. Thus Riccardo Di Stefanopresident of the Young Entrepreneursin view of the 39 Capri meetingwith the development prospects of Africa and the Mediterranean area at the centre. "With a public debt like ours, attention to accounts is essential and, in this sense, we appreciate the government's attitude. Resources are scarce, we need to concentrate them on development chapters and the confirmation of the tax wedge cut in a structural manner is one of the main ones. We are open to a review of tax expenditures in order to allocate resources in a structural manner to investments'.
Di Stefano indicated the priorities ahead of the manoeuvre: 'Productivity at the centre' with 'Transition 5.0, the most relevant measure in terms of allocation, to manage the digital transformation and green, is fundamental. Although access to it must be simplified. And then artificial intelligence and mini nuclear reactors, two frontiers on which the country's future competitive capacity will be measured'.
The mismatch,' he added as Delegate for Education, 'is still a problem: "while unemployment has decreased in recent years, the number of Neets has fallen and the number of graduates has risen, the gap between labour supply and demand has remained the same. There are still not enough graduates from technical institutes and graduates in Stem subjects. The companies, thanks to the 1.5 billion allocated by Draghi with the NRP, are committed with the Its Academy to provide an answer, by participating directly in the training courses'.
On the topic of post-NRP investments, the president of the under-40 industrialists said: 'We must now accelerate projects and use the funds in the best possible way. Of course, 2026 is near and there are some chapters that, in order to unfold their potential, should be accompanied by national support policies even beyond that date'.
And on the structural budget plan: 'A multi-year strategy in continuity with the reform drive of the NRP is certainly positive. However, some of the indications are general and we have identified some critical issues. One in particular: the overall reform of Ires, a tax that has a very strong impact on businesses, is the great absentee in the Plan. Once Irap has been overcome, there can be no imbalance towards corporate income tax'.
On the car crisis and the green deal Di Stefano emphasised: 'Proper ambition with respect to environmental goals cannot be separated from the necessary pragmatism. The endothermic engine stop set for 2035 is proving to be a boomerang. Europe cannot turn into a Rust Belt. And like cars, other sectors are at risk from this ideological fury, such as steel and ceramics'.
Coming to the end of his term of office as President of the Young Entrepreneurs, Riccardo Di Stefano recalled the challenges and achievements: 'These have been complex years, but full of challenges, with rapid and impactful transformations. I started my mandate with the pandemic, then the great shocks of global trade and the energy crisis, the conflicts in Europe and the Middle East. I am proud to have represented so many young Italian entrepreneurs who, together with the country, showed their best side during the pandemic period. We brought some issues to the general attention, such as the return to nuclear power, but also asked and obtained from the government the reshaping of basket bonds to suit young entrepreneurs'.
