Tuesday 17 February 2026 Confindustria organises the event in Milan “Milan Cortina 2026: The Economy of Sport and the Mountains”.”, at which the issue of the Journal of Economic Policy dedicated to the theme, curated in collaboration with the’Institute for Sports and Cultural Credit.
The event will take place between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Milan Triennale, inside Casa Italia, the reception area for athletes and centrepiece of sporting celebrations, of which Confindustria is Official Partner.
The Review's scientific contributions offer an articulate analysis that interweaves sport, investment, sustainability, innovation and territorial transformation, offering a multidisciplinary reading of highly topical phenomena.
The event represents an opportunity to discuss the main economic, social and territorial dynamics related to major sporting events, with particular attention to the medium- to long-term effects on the production system, territories and development models.
Speakers will include, among others, Luciano Buonfiglio, CONI President, Fausto Bianchi Vice President of Confindustria and President Small Industry, Leopold Destro, Delegate of the President of Confindustria for Transport, Logistics and Tourism Industry, Lorraine Berton, President of the Technical Group Olympics, Major Events and Mountain Economy of Confindustria, Beniamino Quintieri, President Istituto per il Credito Sportivo e Culturale, Stefano Manzocchi, Editor Economic Policy Review, Alessandro Picardi, Vice President Assolombarda with responsibility for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympics and Cultural Events, Alessio Cremonese, President Assosport, John Foresti, Head of Regional Research - Research Department Intesa Sanpaolo.
It will also be possible to visit the exhibition “Muse”, set up inside Casa Italia: an itinerary that integrates iconic objects with contemporary works of art.

For security reasons of Casa Italia, it is mandatory to register for the event by Friday 13 February.
