The Digital Europe programme aims to bring digital technologies to businesses, citizens and public administrations.

With a planned total budget of EUR 7.5 billion for the period 2021-2027, it aims to accelerate economic recovery and shape the digital transformation of Europe's society and economy, benefiting everyone, but especially SMEs.

In order to achieve Digital Europe's objectives, investments will be strengthened in the following key areas:

Supercomputing: European supercomputing and data management capabilities will be strengthened through the purchase of world-class supercomputers capable of easily processing billions of pieces of information. The aim is to benefit from the use of supercomputing in areas of public interest such as health, security, environment and business (including SMEs).
Artificial intelligence: by stimulating the use of artificial intelligence by public administrations and companies. A true European data space will also be established and access to data in general facilitated. Experimentation with artificial intelligence in areas of interest such as health will be strengthened and supported, and member states will have to encourage cooperation in this regard. In this way, the adoption of artificial intelligence will have important effects not only on digital products and services, but also on traditional sectors and everyday life.
Cybersecurity: coordination between different member states will be strengthened through investments in infrastructure and tools needed to ensure the security of the digital single market. Cybersecurity expertise will be shared and supported in the European economic fabric. In addition, European optical communications and cybersecurity capabilities will be strengthened through Quantum Communication Infrastructures. Finally, capacities and competences between the member states and the private sector will be strengthened to unify the network and information security sector.
Advanced digital skills development: there will be concrete support for training through programmes and internships, and improving the skills of the existing workforce through short training courses on the latest updates in key capacities areas.
Optimal use of digital technologies in society and the economy: High-impact implementations in areas of public interest such as health, the Green Deal, smart communities and culture will be supported. The network of European innovation centres will be strengthened, aiming to have an innovation centre in every region to help companies take advantage of digital opportunities. The use and upgrading by companies (including SMEs) of advanced digital technologies will be encouraged and the action of European public administrations and companies to distribute and access advanced technologies, such as blockchain, will be supported.
The Digital Europe programme is implemented by means of multi-annual work programmes:

Digital Europe (the main Work Programme);
Cybersecurity (implemented by the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre, ECCC);
High Performance Computing (implemented by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking).

Please find attached the official Work Programme 2025-2027 and the fact sheet on the Digital Europe Programme.

N.B. The aim of the fact sheet is to present the most interesting calls for companies. Only a few calls, published under the Main Work Programme and the Cybersecurity 2025-2027 Work Programme, will therefore be highlighted.
