In August 2025, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the future Circular Economy Act, the framework law to be presented by the end of 2026, which aims to accelerate the transition to a more circular economy and strengthen the economic security, resilience, competitiveness and decarbonisation of the European Union. The Circular Economy Act, together with Competitiveness Compass and to Clean Industrial Deal, represents one of the key instruments through which the Commission aims to double the Union's circularity rate.

As part of the consultation, Confindustria has carried out important coordination work, sending the European Commission a single document which, in addition to providing detailed answers to the questionnaire, presents operational proposals to make circularity a real factor in industrial policy.
