As things stand, the generalised introduction of limits on PFAS discharges, without a clear definition of these substances, is a choice that risks placing various national industrial sectors in serious difficulty, as well as representing a serious burden on the competitiveness of our country's companies, given that other European countries do not appear to have limits on the discharge of these compounds.

In fact, it seems indispensable, not only from a technical point of view, to make the appropriate assessments regarding the socio-economic feasibility of the proposed measures.

This impact assessment is essential to ascertain what the real environmental benefits are and what, at the same time, the impacts are on the production system, which, due to such major changes, could suffer in terms of competitiveness and ability to remain in the markets.
