The 2021 Mezzogiorno Check-up, drawn up by Confindustria and SRM, shows a recovering South that has withstood the socioeconomic impact of the pandemic and seems to have embarked on a path of sustained growth, which will, however, have to be consolidated by seizing all the relevant opportunities offered by the numerous recovery tools and measures, especially by the PNRR, which envisages an effective and significant focus on the South. At the same time, the new 2021-27 programming cycle of the Structural Funds must be launched without delay.The Synthetic Index of the Southern Economy is back on the rise after the abrupt slowdown in 2020, recovering almost completely the values of 2019: investments and new enterprises, in fact, have exceeded the figure recorded before the pandemic, highlighting an entrepreneurial vitality that has been able to react to the crisis.
