Confindustria welcomed the European proposal to introduce a definition of Small Mid Caprecognising the strategic role of these enterprises in strengthening the competitiveness and growth of production chains.

The Association supports the need to accompany the new definition with dedicated support and simplification measures, without affecting the facilities reserved for SMEs, and reiterates its invitation to the European Commission to update the economic and financial criteria for the classification of companies, which have remained static since 2003.
