ENERGY: CONFINDUSTRIA VIEWS DL POSITIVELY, BUT ELIMINATE TTF INDEX SPECULATION ON GAS PRICES
Satisfaction with the nuclear bill
Rome, 28 February 2025 - "Confindustria considers positively the 3 billion euro decree-law for energy, divided in almost equal parts between families and companies, recognising it as a tangible sign of attention and balance in a complicated moment due to geopolitical difficulties and scarce financial resources". Emanuele Orsini, president of Confindustria, commented on the DL Bill and the DDL on Nuclear launched today by the Council of Ministers.
'These are measures that are going in the right direction,' explained the number one of Viale dell'Astronomia, 'as the signals given with the compensation of indirect ETS costs and the reduction of system charges, albeit in time, testify.
'But it is a policy,' Orsini continues, 'that needs to be strengthened where the systemic problems are: we need to solve the knot of gas price speculation in Brussels and introduce structural measures in Italy. In short, affect all unjustified costs to the country, families and businesses'.
The president goes on to say that: "this DL leaves behind important sectors for Italian manufacturing and exports, such as Paper, Ceramics, Glass and Cement. For both this and the other measures, Confindustria intends to contribute to improving the text during the parliamentary debate for the conversion of the decree'.
'On the very good side,' Orsini concludes, 'I would like to emphasise with particular satisfaction the DDL on Nuclear Power, which opens the way to a medium- to long-term structural solution that will allow the rebalancing of our energy footprint, making our system competitive and not penalised on the innovation front.
