ENERGY: CONFINDUSTRIA, GOOD TERNA ACTION ON DISPATCHING

Regina: 'We hope that the reduction of costs in the bill will continue'

Rome, 18 September 2023 - "Electricity dispatch costs in the bill continue their descent, as confirmed by Terna's update which shows an uplift to 0.81 €/MWh for Q4 2023, compared to 0.85 € in the previous quarter, thus settling at very low values and below the threshold of 1 €/MWh," says Aurelio Regina President of the Technical Energy Group of Confindustria.

"This is another historic low, and it is the third consecutive quarter that Terna has kept the cost of the service below EUR 1/MWh. As industrial consumers, we appreciate the work done by Terna to contain the costs of an item on the electricity bill that was significant until a few years ago and is now much more contained," Regina comments.

"According to Terna data, the average uplift value between 2016 and 2021 was EUR 8/MWh. In 2022, when energy prices had increased 6 times compared to 2019, the uplift value had remained substantially stable compared to the same year,' he continued. In 2023, where energy prices are more than twice (2.5 times) those of 2019, the average uplift value is less than a quarter. We hope that we will continue in this direction,' Aurelio Regina concluded, 'to make the cost of companies' energy bills, which are still very high, less of an impact on their production system.
