In the aerospace sector, Italy now boasts a competitive supply chainbut it is crucial supporting investments. Aerospace research, in fact, has spin-offs in many fields of the economy, particularly in various parts of the manufacturing industry due to the flywheel effect of new technologies. Investing in the sector, therefore, means giving a growth impetusstrengthen the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry, attract new investments and create job opportunities for our young people.
The willingness to provide Italy with a regulatory framework for space activities is a clear sign of the country's political and industrial commitment to ensure a leading role in the emerging Space Economy.
However, there are some crucial aspectsin order for the drafting of a national space law to be an opportunity to promote a national industrial policy in the sector, thereby fostering the competitiveness of our companies.
As a general recommendation, the law must not encumber or complicate the operation of companies or create barriers to entry of new realities. It is suggested, therefore, to keep the law on fundamental principles and delegate the details to later additions. These additions must provide for the involvement of trade associations in order to take the industrial point of view into account. This need becomes even more urgent considering that the European law is scheduled to be published in 2025.
La European dimensionThis will be the natural context in which to define the future of the Italian aerospace sector. In order to face this challenge, Sistema Paese must be able to compete on equal terms with other Member States in all areas, including technological and regulatory ones.
