The President of Confindustria, Emanuele Orsiniat the General Council, signed the "Lorenzo's Card"dedicated to the memory of Lorenzo Parelli, a 4th year student at the 'Bearzi' vocational institute in Udine, victim in 2022 of an accident during the alternance school work.

With the signing of the 'Lorenzo Charter', a manifesto signed in 2023 by Lorenzo's family and the regional administration, which took place in the presence of the young man's parents, Elena and Dino Parelli, Confindustria pledged to promote the safety at work in school and training contexts through actions aimed at preventing accidents and implementing the health protection and safety of young people involved in work experience.

The manifesto envisages, in addition to and in support of the measures envisaged by the occupational safety regulations, the involvement of students in the design of training courses, with their representation at the regional administration's tables on safety in the workplace; the placement of students in environments that are appropriate and consistent with the school experience; the constant link between students, school tutors and company tutors, with a dedicated training course; a system for the recognition of preferential requirements for companies hosting students, based on the presence of a structured and consolidated system for safety protection.

" The manifesto we signed today represents the willingness of companies to further strengthen their commitment to safety by developing an organisational culture geared towards prevention and training"said Confindustria President Emanuele Orsini. "I thank the Head of State Sergio Mattarella for his words and I confirm our utmost commitment to a common and shared goal: to zero deaths at work. We are convinced that the correct path is to intervene ex ante and we have already started a dialogue with the trade unions in this direction. Tragedies like the one that happened in Lorenzo must never happen again, and that is why we must act on prevention, implementing effective safety procedures, constantly updating machinery, and adequately training personnel.".
