The General University Protocol, signed on 3 July 2024 between University of Pisa e Confindustria Toscana Nord, initiates a five-year strategic partnership to facilitate the exchange of resources and knowledge between academia and industry. The operational core of the agreement is the “Programme Centre”composed of two representatives on each side, with the task of coordinating initiatives and linking the needs of companies with what the university offers. The Centre works with unanimous decisions, provides for a annual rotating presidency and performs proposition and monitoring functions; individual projects are then activated through specific technical agreements. The secretariat is entrusted to Confindustria Toscana Nord, to ensure continuity and consistency in the management of activities throughout the duration of the Protocol, with the possibility of renewal on expiry.

Planned activities include: presentation of the industrial fabric of Lucca-Pistoia-Prato, company testimonials, joint events, comparisons between taught disciplines and applications in companies, meetings for internships/apprenticeships/selection, analysis of the employment impact of graduates in the three provinces, enhancement of technical and managerial specialisation (also through industrial doctorates), technology transfer and collaborations in the Continuing Education.
