Presentation INGENIUM Report II Edition
Ingenium focuses on studying the export potential of Italian machinery and is the result of close cooperation between the associations under Federmacchine and the Centro Studi Confindustria (CSC).
The perimeter of the analysis is made up of the various types of machinery: Machinery and equipment for ceramics; Machinery for woodworking; Machinery for the printing, paper, papermaking and related industries; Machinery for the textile industry; Machinery and materials for foundries; Machinery and moulds for plastics and rubber; Machinery for footwear, leather goods and tanneries; Machinery and equipment for processing natural stone; Mechatronic systems and components for power transmission; Machinery and accessories for glass; Machinery for packaging and wrapping; Machine tools, robots and automation.
The spearhead of the machines included in the analysis is defined by their three defining elements: automation, creativity and technology (ACT).
The reference context of the second edition remains very complex and made even more difficult to interpret due to the high degree of uncertainty. In fact, the scenario is affected not only by the continuing tensions between the US and China, but also by the more recent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, while those linked to the Russian invasion of Ukraine remain unresolved. While the fundamentals of the world economy have improved, Europe is going through a period of slowdown, compounded by the political fragilities of France and Germany. The contingent difficulties are intertwined with the macro-trends linked to the ecological and digital transition, which are forcing companies to a process of continuous innovation in order to be able to respond to climate challenges on the one hand, while remaining competitive against increasingly technologically advanced competitors on the other.
The topics covered will aim to deepen the understanding of the changes taking place, providing a first measure of the main trends in the trade of ACT goods, analysing the transformations linked to the central role of artificial intelligence and delving into the opportunities and challenges in the Latin American and Caribbean region. The Report will also have two spcific focuses, one on Mexico and the other on Africa and the Middle East, as well as examining the export potential of ACT goods in key advanced and emerging markets.
The works will be introduced by the Vice President for Export and Investment Attraction of Confindustria, Barbara Cimmino, and by the President of Federmacchine, Bruno Bettelli, with the participation of Institutional Representatives and experts to deepen the themes and focus geographies of the 2nd edition (Artificial Intelligence and Mexico). The Report will be presented by the Centro Studi di Confindustria.
