Executive Vice Chairman, Pirelli & C.

Born in 1948.

Degree in Economics and Business Administration from Bocconi University of Milan, 1971.

Developed sea transport business for family company beginning in the early seventies.

Entered Pirelli in 1986 as general partner (socio accomandatario). Took over operational leadership of the Pirelli Group in 1992 of which he is currently executive vice chairman.

Chairman of “Il Sole 24 Ore” from December 1996 to September 2001 and

Board Member of “Teatro alla Scala” from October 2001 to September 2005.

Chairman of Telecom Italia S.p.A. from September 2001 to September 2006, Director of Mediobanca - Banca di Credito Finanziario S.p.A from October 1996 to April 2002 (Director and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors from May 2007 to October 2017) and Director of Banca Commerciale Italiana/Intesa BCI from November 1999 to April 2002. Up to May 2013 he was Chairman of Prelios S.p.A..

Currently Chairman of Marco Tronchetti Provera & C. S.p.A., a holding controlling Camfin S.p.A. – where he is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer – which in turn holds approximately 14% of Pirelli & C. S.p.A..

Director of RCS MediaGroup S.p.A..

Honorary Co-Chairman for the Italian branch of the Council for the United States and Italy, of which he has been Italian Co-Chairman for 15 years.

Member of General Council and the Advisory Board of Assolombarda as well as the General Council of Confindustria. Board Member of Bocconi University of Milan.
