From Copenhagen to Copenhagen (CONFINDUSTRIA proposals for the Copenhagen Summit)

17 May 2005
European policy

The enlargement of the European Union to 10 new countries is now a reality. The reunification of the continent is an historic moment of unquestionable value. Confindustria supports the process of enlargement to the applicant countries on the condition that the economic and political criteria agreed in Copenhagen in 1993 are indeed fulfilled. The enlargement, that the European Union is preparing to complete, nonetheless raises a whole series of questions on whether the European Union - its institutions and policies – is truly prepared to receive this wave of new countries.
